Years in ACP
One industry. Many roles. A lot of questions. And still plenty more to learn.
Knowledge built by doing
The work became my classroom.
Most of what I understand today came from doing the work itself. Customers asking questions. Projects creating problems. Production showing what is actually possible. Tests giving answers we expected, and sometimes answers we did not expect.
I joined Danube Group in 2010. Since then I have moved through product, commercial, manufacturing and leadership roles while staying closely connected to Alucopanel.
Over the years, ACP took me much further than the panel itself. I became increasingly involved with coatings, mineral core technologies, manufacturing, facade systems, fire testing, certification and international standards.
One lesson became very clear. The deeper you understand the material, the more you realise that the material is only one part of the answer.
How I look at my career
Work before title.
Titles changed over the years. The work always came first. Understanding the problem, finding the answer, building the product, supporting the customer, learning from mistakes and helping the team move forward.

Associate Director
Today my work connects the commercial and technical sides of Alucopanel. Product direction, manufacturing, markets, certification, fire testing, facade systems and long-term business development often meet at the same table.

The responsibility grew with the work.
I joined in a product sales role and gradually moved through Product In-Charge, Product Manager, Division Head, DGM, GM and now Associate Director. I value that progression because each role taught me something the next role needed.
ACPIA
Taking the conversation beyond one company.
As Co-Initiator of ACPIA, my interest is wider than a brand or product. The focus is public clarity around ACP, core technologies, testing, independent certification, facade fire safety and the responsibility of everyone involved in cladding decisions.
What keeps me interested
Making complex things clearer.
Standards can be complicated. Fire tests can be misunderstood. Certificates can be read without understanding what was actually tested. I enjoy going into that detail, understanding it properly and then explaining it in simple words.
The progression
From selling a product to understanding a system.

Commercial
Customers, projects, specifications, pricing and markets. This taught me what people expect from the product and where real project problems begin.

Product
Aluminium skins, coatings, mineral cores, finishes, production and quality. The product stopped being something I simply sold and became something I wanted to understand.

Technical
Fire behaviour, testing, standards, facade assemblies and certification. This is where evidence became more important than assumptions.

Leadership
Teams, factories, strategy, markets and decisions. Today much of my work happens where technical reality and commercial reality meet.
What experience taught me
Some lessons only come from the work.

A certificate is not the full story.
I want to know what was tested, how it was tested, what passed and where that result can actually be used.

Small details can become big problems.
A coating, core, joint, fixing, cavity or installation detail may look small on paper. On a real facade it can change the outcome.

Failed tests are also knowledge.
A failure makes you ask better questions. What happened? Why did it happen? What needs to change? That is valuable learning.

Materials do not make decisions.
People select, design, approve, fabricate and install. Good outcomes depend on good decisions throughout that chain.

The factory teaches you differently.
Being close to manufacturing changes how you understand a product. You see things that a brochure, drawing or presentation cannot show.

Experience should create more questions.
Twenty years does not mean I have every answer. It means I know how important it is to ask the right question before deciding.
How I see facades today
Material matters. The system matters more.
A facade does not perform because one component has a certificate. It performs when the material, design, substructure, cavity, testing, fabrication and installation work together. That is why my work today goes beyond Aluminium Composite Panels and increasingly into complete facade and building envelope systems.

Learn it. Then share it.
Over time I started building and supporting open industry knowledge around the subjects I work with every day. The idea is simple. If something useful took years to understand, why make the next person start from zero?

Material construction, core technologies, coatings, manufacturing, applications, performance and product evolution.
Fire safety and testing
Understanding test methods, classifications, system testing and what a result really proves.
Facade systems
Moving beyond the panel into cavities, fixings, substructures, weather performance and the complete building envelope.
Better decisions
Looking at the people behind material selection, design, approval and installation. Because every outcome starts with a decision.
Still learning
Twenty years is not the finish line.
The deeper I go into this industry, the more I realise how much there is still to understand.
New materials. New systems. New standards. New tests. New problems. New lessons.
So I keep doing what has worked for me from the beginning. Learn. Ask. Test. Share.
