I have spent nearly 20 years working with Aluminium Composite Panels. The deeper I went into the product, the more I understood that a panel cannot be looked at alone. Fire safety, facade design, testing, certification, fabrication and installation all connect.

One material. Many layers. My understanding of ACP was built from working with the product itself, not only reading about it.

ACP has been at the centre of my work for nearly two decades. I have worked across the product journey, from raw materials and manufacturing to coatings, finishes, fire performance, testing, certification and international markets.

Beyond the panel

Product knowledge became system knowledge.

Over time my work moved beyond understanding how ACP is made. I needed to understand what happens when that product becomes part of a facade.

That means looking at the material, the wall assembly, the test evidence and what finally happens on site. This is where product knowledge becomes useful in the real world.

From product to building

A facade is more than its cladding.

A good product is important, but it is only one part of the wall. Performance depends on how materials, systems, evidence and people come together.

Material What is the panel made from? Look at the core, aluminium skins, coating, dimensions and physical properties.

System How does it become part of the wall? Look at joints, cavities, insulation, membranes, substructure and interfaces.

Evidence What do we actually know? Look at testing, classification, certification and the exact scope of the evidence.

Execution What was actually built? Fabrication, installation, workmanship and site changes can affect the final result.

Decision People select, specify, approve, substitute and install. Every one of those decisions becomes part of the final building.
Evidence before assumption

A test report is not the whole story.

When I look at a test, my first question is not only whether it passed or failed. I want to know what was tested, how it was built, which standard was used and what the result actually proves.

The scope matters. The configuration matters. The installation matters. That is why I keep coming back to one simple principle.
